Applicable On:
Asphalt and Concrete Pavements, Slabs, Tunnel Liners, Structural Concrete
Test for:
Determination of stiffness profiles, i.e., velocity and thicknesses of thin layered systems (typically not exceeding 3 m) without coring and with only 1-sided access conditions. This method is also used to measure the depth of surface-opening cracks. The SASW method is a powerful tool for identifying material condition properties at various depths through the determination of the variation of material stiffness vs. depth in layered systems.
- Identify fire, frost and cracking damage and depth of damage in concrete
- Estimate strength of concrete, masonry and rock with destructive correlations
- Measure depth of vertical (surface-opening) cracks
- Determine asphalt moduli/thickness and pavement layers
- Look through tunnel linings to check concrete, shotcrete, rock depth and competency
