Olson has added another instrument to their line of nondestructive testing
equipment— an Impact Echo Scanner.
The IES Method is based on the Olson Engineering patented technology of a
rolling transducer and automated impactor for near-continuous Impact Echo
based thickness and flaw scanning of structural concrete and pavements. Performed
at slow walking speeds, test results are obtained every inch (2.5cm) in a
line and multiple lines can be combined for 2-D to 3-D displays of concrete
thickness and locations of internal void, honeycomb, cracking, delamination,
etc.
Literally thousands of tests can be done per hour when "imaging" of
internal concrete conditions is required. For example—evaluation of
grouted vs. ungrouted post-tensioned (PT) bridge ducts.
Applicable On:
Structural concrete elements such as Walls, Decks, Beams, Columns,
Pavements, Slabs up to 24" (60cm) thick
Test For:
Concrete thickness profiles and internal concrete flaws such as ungrouted
PT ducts wth corrosion risk, voids, honeycomb, cracking, delamination, etc.

Olson
Instruments has just completed the first model of our new
portable resonance tester for concrete cylinder and beam
samples. The new device complies with ASTM C215 as well as ASTM C666, and can be
used to measure all three important modulus values. The whole
system fits in a briefcase-sized pelican case.
